Water Bodies
Terms can be confusing! There are so many words that describe bodies of water, we thought it would be helpful to provide descriptions and photos that may help clarify the differences between them. Doing the research has certainly helped us to understand them better!
cove: a small sheltered bay

inlet: a small arm of the sea, a lake, or a river

harbor:a place on the coast where vessels may find shelter, especially one protected from rough water by piers, jetties, and other artificial structures example: Murray Harbor

Ocean -a very large expanse of sea, in particular, each of the main areas into which the sea is divided geographically. http://www.diffen.com/difference/Ocean_vs_Sea
Gulf- a deep inlet of the sea almost surrounded by land with a narrow mouth

fresh water pond- body of water that there is no marine animals. Cattail.
